* - The three bonus tracks were deleted from subsequent CD versions. Thompson was unhappy with the quality of the recordings and the performances and later persuaded Hannibal to delete this LP. But the demand continued, and in the face of high prices being paid for second-hand copies, the album was re-released, with Thompson's consent, in 1997, along with the bonus tracks.

The Ducks (formerly known as the Jeff Blackburn Band) were a short-lived hard rock supergroup formed in the summer of 1977 by singer-songwriter Jeff Blackburn (who died this Jan 6th, at age 77). / The band included Bob Mosley (an original member of Moby Grape - bass player; also one of their songwriters and singers), Neil Young, and Johnny Craviotto (drummer - later, a drum maker). The band played a series of impromptu bar gigs around the Santa Cruz area in 1977. Chris Strachwitz, died May 5th, at age 91 - he was the founder (in 1960) and president of Arhoolie Records, the label this was released on. He released hundreds of albums of what we now call "Roots" music or "Americana", starting in 1960 with Mance Whitcomb. He released archival material (this album, as well as Clifton Chenier, Big Joe Turner, Lowell Fulsom and many others) but also made new recordings, often traveling to make field recordings. / The label name is another term for "field holler". ... ALSO ...
