In the late 1960s, Slim became friends with members of Canned Heat and played piano on the track "Turpentine Moan" on their album "Boogie with Canned Heat" {their second album - Feb 1968, Liberty}. In turn, members of the band contributed to this album.

This song was originally recorded by Muddy Waters in the spring of 1950, on Aristcrat records, which became Chess records.
