Agnew's VP resignation in disgrace, Nixon's choice for new VP and the Senate's verification of his choice of Gerald Ford, which happened on November 27th 1974. The 25t Amendment forced Agnew to resign his position on October 1973 due to his tax evasion and the acceptance of many bribes. He had been the Chief Executive of Baltimore County and in 1967 became governor. Hi(meager) punishments, then, included his disbarment from the Maryland Court of Appeals, a $10,000 fine and 3 year probation. The 25th A also required that the President (Nixon) reccomend another VP. Less than 1 year after both houses of the Congress ok'ed Gerald Ford as the new VP (required by the 25th A), Nixon was impeached and resigned his position as president of the U.S. due to the Watergate scandal and its revelation s of the corruptions within his office.
